System Restore

Whenever system restore is turned off all restore points are deleted.
Another way to delete all restore points except the
latest is by running Disk Cleanup and selecting more options to delete them.
There is also a malware program that resets system restore and then turns it
back on which deletes all restore points.
This malware is installed when downloading some program.
Suggest you check system restore--make sure it is on then click 'create a
restore point'.
Then check ---does the restore point remain---power off then on---is it
still there?

I forgot to mention I had done a disk clean up as well. Have run a number of
anti virus programs & malware & nothing has turned up ? Also I just
checked & there was 1 restore point from this morning. I rebooted & that
restore point was deleated &replaced with one at time of start up...???

You have just identified the fact that something you downloaded (probably
recently) is resetting system restore and then turning it back on. Result is
you will have a new restore point each time you power on. This happened to
me when I let
a relative use my computer. Took me 2 weeks to find. Unfortunately you
cannot restore your computer to a previous date
obviously. Only way to find is by not allowing programs to boot up (load)
perhaps one or two at a time till you find the culprit.

Thanks, I did stop some recent items from starting & think maybe thats
it. Yesterdays was saved & todays added so will now see if I can determine
which one is the problem Gimpy
